History of Ebenezerpuram Church
Ebenezerpuram CSI Church was situated in kanyakumari District, Vilavankodu Thaluk, keelkulam village, keelkulam muncipality’s sentharai area. People of this area was eagerly involed to worship our lord, so that they became the members of parakkanvilai CSI church which was about 2 Kms from their place and worshiped there. Since the distance was a bit long, they gathered and prayed in the house of Mr. Vedhanayagam in the sentharai, Koozhachavilai. By knowing the wishes of the people to built a church for praising our lord, pastor. Mr. Sunder sam sisil along with Rev.Victor and Mr.G.Charles got the permission to built a church in the name of koohachenvilai from the bishop.
Families that Oblized:
12.5 cents of land was given as harity in the moonjarai register office on 1970 ofno: 1737 document on 04.07.1970 by the A athicham (o) Arumainayaagam Nadar’s People Mr.Nyanasigamaani Nadar and Mr.Appavu Nadar, Velayutham(o) Vedhanyayam Nadar’s People Mr.V.Bright and Mr.V.sobanam and .And on 1970, 13 th December bishop Mr.I.R.H. Nyanadhasan inaugurated a H.M.S in a church weaved with cocnunt leaves. Mr.S.Sunder sam sisil was appointed as the first pastors of the church. The early stage members of the church were Mr.V.Rajayya and family, Mr.Nalamudayan Appavu and family Rev.Victor and family, Mr.G. Charles and family, G.Thangaya and family, Mr.G.Lawzar and family, Mr.G.Edison and family, Mr.V.Bright and family, Mr. Justus was the church’s first appointed secretary.
Thought of Obilation For the church:
By the thought of building the church in the road side church worker Mr.S.Sundar sam sisil approached the nagercoil church womwn’s Gospel director and asked for help and they rupees 10,001 as a help. Mr.Nyanasimani gave a 23 cents of land at very low rate of Rs. 5000 where our
church is situated now, on 1975 August 2015 and also gave on amount of rupees 500 for the construction works. And the trees need for the construction works. And the trees need for the construction works were provided by malamgkode Mr.V.Maria pon Ayya vaithiyar. 12.5 cents of land which was bought in the name of charity was returned after getting an amount of rupees 1000 to Mr. Bright.
Built in Oblation:
Till the completion of the constructions of the church no salary was paid and all the church works were cared and by the hard works of Appauu’s son George, Mr. T.Abraham, Mr.A.Nasalaiyan. By December 19,1976 achurch with the name god’s help made full stone works of wall and red tiles in the rood was inaugurated by the bishop Mr.Selvamani. Pastor late Mr.S.Sunder sam Sisil unforgettable one in the church history who worked 3 times by the god’s plan and with this untiring works helped in construction of the church. In the new church Mr.T.Thomas as the secretary (loyears) and also the member council of the board, Mr.Nalamudayan’s son Appavu as the manager, Mr.G.charles as the auditor all worked fairly. By 1990,4 th march Mr.G.Charles presented a pulpit which was hosted by bishop Rev. Christhudhas. Later Mr.V Who worked as the secretary for about 20 years also the member of council, Mr.R.Stalin christaphine as manager,Mr. Thangamuthu teacher as the auditor and also the members of the church Mr.G. ,Mr.P.Thangam Sundaram, Mr.A. ,Mr.Jeba Rethna Kumar, Mr.V.Easter Nayagam worked family.
Church Bell’s Sound:
By 1995 when Mr.V.Sobanam teacher as the manager and Mr. John Jerish as church worked were working, the church tower was built and hosted by bishop Rev. Devakadatcham. It was built from the offerings of the people and also the brass by Mr. Thangayya teacher.
Church Pastors:
The Ebenezer church pastor’s who worked fairly were Mr.Sunder sam sisil,Mr. AM.M.Rajamani, Mr.T.K.Kumaral, Mr.G.Sathianesan, Mr.S.Samson, Mr.Raja Rethnam, Mr.S. Rasalaigyan,Mr.D. John Jerrish,Mr.Berjes,Mr.Levindhas, Mr.Y.Appalose. And now Eva.R. Selva Raj is working fairly.
Church people’s involvement in the development of church:
Mr.C.Stanley kochappa as the church’s Sunday school secretary,Mrs.L.Ambrose, Mrs.Usha Jeyanthy and Mrs.Maebel latha as the auditor, former secretary of christion devotion committee Mr.Peter and in present Mrs. Sulochana sunder singh, women’s committee former secretary Mrs.Yesunesam teacher and in present Mrs. Dr.L.P.S.Poonkodi. And for cboir former associator Mr.George, Mr.Stanley Kochappa, Mr.V.Uster Nayagam, Mr.V.Lesley victor,Mr.Prabatha Rassmi, selvan J.M.Jenish were working as the teachers of choir. Mrs. Yesu Nesam teacher and Mrs. Suuirtha George are working as the organizer of the choir.Church’s former helper Mr.Nyanamani, Mr.A.Bathrose, who worked about 25 years and also Mr.T.Sasikumaran, Mrs.Leela thanga raj and present selvin.S.Sree Kumar are working. Church’s land documents were also taken from the register office and it was preserved till now.
