History of Potteti Church
Pooteti CSI church was started on 26 th of 1840 by Neyoor missionary’s pastor Mr.Maet. It was because of the God’s Endless Grace and the works of our ancestors the church was built earlier. By 1947, 40 cents of land was bought and given to the government by the Kerala’s muthali village people who were residing in our area. A Government Building was built in the particular place and later Government L.M.Primary school was started which was working fine. With the thankful heart we remember late Mr.S.Retna Ayya and late Mr.S.V.Muthayya and Mr.S.V.Ponayya and also other ancestors of this society who were acting as the axle to this church.
By God’s Grace in 1840 our church had crossed one and half years, an amount of rupees 50,000 was given by Mr.P.Thanga Nadar s/o P.Thanga sundaram in remembrance of his sister late P.Chellachi and also he collected rupees 10,000 and Gave along it for Building a new church. Because of the untiring works of the church pastor C.Lawrence M.A.M.Phil,MCD, and the church committee members Mr.M.Thangappan (Secretary), Mr.A.Duraisami (Auditor),Mr.M.Mathiayas, Mr.R.Rethna kumar M.A,B.L, D.B.M, Mr. Thangappan M.M.B.L, MRS.Glory Jebamony, Late G.Nesamony and ER.MR.P.Devanathan pon Ayya, MR.A.Chinnathambi, Mrs.Vinnipret Rethna Ayya, Mrs. Vijayam Retna Kumar, Mrs. Jessi Nesa Kumar, Late S.Paalayya Nadar,Late K. Muthayya and the church members, Sunday school teachers, youngsters,children especially women, foundation was laid by 8th February 1993 headed by our church pastor Mr.Lawrence MA.M.Phil,M.Ed and Devicode district church’s pastor A.Selvamani LTH and by 440 days of work, our church was built and inaguarated by kanyakumaris Bishop Mr.G.Christudhas M.A,B.D on 1994, 15th May.
In remembrance of that day (13.05.2012) i.e.18 th church day was headed by Devicode District church’s pastor Rev.Rajakumar G.N, M.A, B.D and in front of the church pastor Mr.C.Jebasingh, former church workers, along with pastors of the churches under the district church members it was inaugurated. Church pastors Mr.Clawrence M.A, MPhil, M.C.D followed by Mr. Hamilton M.A, B.D Mr.C.Jeba kumar M.A, MPhil, and MR.C.Jeba singh is working now Prof.P.Anto Paulin Pinindo as secretary M.R.Rajan as manager, Mr.R.Charles as auditor, Mr.Duraisami, ADV.R.S.Rehna kumar Mr.D.chandra Bose, Mrs.V.Jemila Josbel are the present members of the church committee. In such way this church leads many people by Bearing the hard burden and helps in leading to the light our lord.
